Class 5 Bays - Format Options
Class 5 is for the testing of private passenger vehicles, ambulances, and motor caravans with 13 or more passenger seats. It is possible for some Class 7 testing stations to obtain approval to test Class 5 vehicles with a DGW of up to 5,000kg, known as Class 5L.

Pit Bays - Class 5
A Tecalemit pit bay is ideal for workshops with the height requirements for Class 5 vehicles. Typically, only a drive-through layout is acceptable where approval is sought to test articulated vehicles. The installation of the pit is completed by vehicle play detectors, radius plates, and a jacking beam, resulting in a sophisticated testing capacity. Additionally, workshops benefit from a proven DVSA-connected roller brake tester and emissions tester, as well as supplementary equipment from Tecalemit, to fulfil the DVSA's requirements.

Class 5L MOT Bays
Class 5L covers passenger vehicles with more than 8 passenger seats in addition to the driver’s seat up to a DGW of 5,000kg. This includes many dual-purpose vehicles, motor caravans and ambulances. 5L vehicles can be examined using Tecalemit Class 7 testing equipment, subject to DVSA approval. With a range of lift options of up to 6.5m in length, the testing of this category can often be accommodated without the need for all the heavy-duty equipment associated with more complex Class 5 categories 1, 2 & 3.
