Case study From Horseless Carriages To Modern Motors Belgravia Garage Has Seen It All

Posted on

Belgravia Garage is among the oldest garages in the country and is known for its excellent service and customer care. Initially built to house the horses and carriages of the residents of Belgravia, the stables and coachhouses adapted their services with the introduction of automobiles in the late 1890s. The mews transformed into a commercial enterprise in 1930, named ‘Eaton Square Garage’, and later rebranded as ‘Belgravia Garage’ to convey its services to the broader community. Today, Belgravia Garage offers a comprehensive range of services, including repairs, MOTs, and valeting, with extensive knowledge of various makes and models.

Recently, they had the opportunity to take over the premises of another garage close to The Oval Cricket Ground. As part of their expansion, the team at Belgravia Garage wanted to incorporate MOT testing in this new location. After exploring their options, they settled on a Class 4 ATL bay that utilised one of Tecalemit’s time-proven scissor lifts. This option allowed for a post-free lifting solution, giving greater flexibility to the workshop layout. The ATL scissor lift also gives them a drive-through option to enable access to the rear of the workshop, where a spray booth is located.

Space-saving Workshop Design

The space-saving process continues with the brake and emission testers, which share a workstation to reduce clutter in the workshop. By utilising a single workstation, additional equipment does not need to take up space unnecessarily. The combined emission tester also benefits from only requiring calibration once a year for both smoke and gas, helping to reduce the bay’s ongoing maintenance costs. The ATL bay is finished with a headlamp beam tester, recessed rails, Tecalemit’s trademark large brake tester display, and all other ancillary items required to start testing.

In addition to purchasing their equipment from Tecalemit, the team at Belgravia Garage also took advantage of our free workshop design service and assistance on the VT01 application with the DVSA. The Tecalemit team has years of experience behind them and is happy to assist and advise garages and workshops looking to develop and grow their businesses. With the application completed and approved, the equipment delivery and installation happened shortly after. All that remained was for Belgravia Garage to get operational sign-off from the DVSA, and they were up and running as a fully functioning MOT test station.

We want to thank the team at Belgravia Garage for choosing Tecalemit Garage Equipment to supply their new Class 4 ATL MOT bay, and we wish them all well with their latest operation.
