Case study Graham Dickie’s Upgrades Alignment Game with 3D Technology

Graham Dickie Cars & Commercial is a well-established garage located in Livingston, West Lothian. They offer various services, including classic car and hot rod restoration, classic car repairs, commercial vehicle repairs, MOT testing, and car servicing. The team at Graham Dickie’s is dedicated to providing quality and reliable services to their customers.

Investing in 3D

Recently, they decided to enhance the range of services on offer by adding complete, 4-wheel alignment. They spoke to their local Dingbro representative, who ran through the options available to them. After considering their choices, the team at Graham Dickie’s decided that Tecalemit’s 3D alignment system, the GTR/8400, best suited their requirements.

The GTR/8400 is a powerful 3D computerised wheel alignment system for checking and adjusting wheel alignment. Utilising machine vision software and high-precision image targets, it is fast, accurate and easy to use. The four wide-angle cameras provide up to twice the range of working heights compared with twin camera systems. The cameras can also be positioned closer to the ramp than with twin camera systems.

Free-standing Cameras

The aluminium camera housing was installed in its free-standing configuration to make the best use of their workshop layout. This means that alignment can be carried out on their specialist 4-post lift without rearranging the complete workshop. The four HD cameras (one for each wheel) mounted in the housing provide quick and reliable target capture and high-speed image transfer to the PC over TCP/IP.

The GTR/8400 also has a comprehensive vehicle database covering over 40,000 vehicles integrated into the operating program. It includes wheel alignment specifications, tyre pressure data, vehicle adjustment diagrams and images, with 3D animated videos. These features, plus the electronic help system, contain all the information you need to work with this advanced 3D alignment machine.

We want to thank the team at Graham Dickie’s for choosing Tecalemit equipment as they continue to build on their success.
