From 1 April 2023, the DVSA has specified that it will no longer be acceptable for vehicle testing station (VTS) staff to perform calibrations on brake testers and headlamp testers. This applies to Roller Brake Testers (RBT), Plate Brake Testers (PBT) and Headlamp Beam Testers.
Calibrations must only be completed by either:-
- The original equipment manufacturer
- A company that has assumed responsibility for equipment support from the manufacturer
- A certified/approved calibration specialist
VTSs employing independent calibration specialists must be able to demonstrate to DVSA upon request the technical competence and viability of the company concerned.
