Fair Work First is the flagship policy of the Scottish Government for delivering high-quality and fair work throughout the Scottish labour market. This is achieved by applying 'Fair Work' principles to the contracts, grants, and other funding awarded across Scotland's public sector, where appropriate. As part of this approach, the Scottish Government is requesting organisations to implement fair working practices, particularly:
- Appropriate channels for effective voice, such as trade union recognition
- Investment in workforce development
- No inappropriate use of zero-hours contracts
- Action to tackle the gender pay gap and create a more diverse and inclusive workplace
- Payment of the real Living Wage
- Offering flexible and family-friendly working practices for all workers from day one of employment
- Opposing the use of fire and rehire practices
As part of our broader, progressive workplace policies, Tecalemit is committed to advancing the 'Fair Work First' criteria outlined by the Scottish Government. We are dedicated to developing how we undertake these principles by reviewing and refining our work practices. At Tecalemit, we consider these practices a priority in the workplace.
