The Completed Tecalemit MOT Bay

Testing Times, Profit From MOT

Posted on

Data from the Society Of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) verifies that the UK has the oldest average car fleet since records began. Fewer new cars were registered due to showrooms being closed for significant periods of 2020 due to lockdowns.

This change to new car registrations means that the average car on UK roads was built in 2011, while almost 10 million vehicles have been in service since 2008 or earlier.

While this is a testament to the durability and quality of modern vehicles, it provides a massive opportunity for garages that do not currently undertake MOTs. Maybe they ‘run the car down the road’, outsourcing the test and their retained profit margin. Or perhaps they have considered installing MOT testing capabilities but are unsure where to start or if they can meet the DVSA’s mandated standards.

Tecalemit has a nationwide team of specialists who can help with the entire process. In the latest edition of Tyre Trade news, Tecalemit explores the process of creating an MOT bay.
