COVID-19 – Operational Update 24th Mar...
24th March 2020
Following yesterday evenings announcements by the Prime Minister, the team at Tecalemit Garage Equipment have reviewed our scope of activity in order to protect our supply chain staff. The decision has been taken to cease field-based activities from today.
Engineer Attendance
Monday 23rd March was the last day that Tecalemit Engineers were able attend site to undertake installations, repair, preventative maintenance and calibrations.
Installations that have already commenced and not finished by 24th March will be 'frozen' until restrictions are removed.
Preventive Maintenance visits that are already scheduled from the 24th March onwards will be postponed; these will be re-scheduled when restrictions are lifted.
Equipment Breakdowns cannot be progressed until after the ‘restrictions to movement’ have been lifted. This applies to equipment that is under warranty and outside of warranty. Any issues of equipment failing within warranty must still be logged with our service office via email - service@tecalemit.co.uk We will then process this as appropriate when restrictions are lifted in the order the calls have been received.
DVSA Equipment Calibrations that are already scheduled and due after the 24th March will be re-scheduled. We are working with the DVSA via the GEA to determine how to deal with DVSA MOT Equipment that 'locks out' if it is not calibrated on the required date.
Field Sales Operations
All of the Tecalemit field Sales Team are available to help with product enquiries, but will not be able to conduct site visits at this time. It is recognised that some businesses may turn their attention to future equipment needs and start asking distributors for price and specification. We will also continue to process and issue quotations and produce ‘indicative layouts’ for MOT Equipment.
Tecalemit and its staff would like to thank you for your continued support during these restricted measures, we understand it may also be challenging for yourselves and any assistance we can provide will be done to the best of our ability.
Operational Procedure Update – COVID-19
19th March 2020
During this period of rapidly changing conditions in which we all find ourselves, we want to assure all our customers and contacts that we will continue to support you.
Tecalemit, like many other businesses today, is currently facing unparalleled challenges and the main focus is on keeping our team healthy and protected while supporting our customers as best we can. As the situation develops, with government and NHS advice changing, we are regularly adjusting our operational arrangements for our staff, suppliers and contractors to remain operational and providing a service to you.
We are actively managing our supply channels, logistics and field based resource so that we can continue to fulfil product orders and provide our calibration and repair services. As circumstances change we will keep you updated on the adaptions to our working practices we will make.
We appreciate that, at the same time, you will also be dealing with your own operational challenges. Whilst we have freedom of movement within the UK, we will continue to visit customer sites and we will be deploying distancing techniques.
The Tecalemit team will be available, as always, to provide support and answer any questions or queries that you may have. Please do get in touch with us if you require any further information.

DVSA Extending Connected Equipment to ...
After the introduction of Connected Equipment with Roller Brake Testers in October 2019, the DVSA has now confirmed next piece of MOT equipment that needs to meet their new requirements. Connected Decelerometers will formally be part of the Connected Equipment directive as of February 2020. This will be mandatory for Class 3, 4 & 7 MOT centres only at the moment, however other classes may be included in the future.
Following the same procedure as roller brake testers, the DVSA will now only approve new applications for MOT centres that include an approved Connected Decelerometer from this date. This change also applies MOT centres replacing or updating MOT equipment in existing stations as they also have to follow the Connected Equipment route.
Tecalemit are pleased to confirm that we are one of just six manufacturers that can currently offer an Approved Decelerometer for Class 3, 4, & 7 testing. To find out more about these new, connected Decelerometers call us on 01752 219111 or talk to your local Area Sales Manager.
Tecalemit gains approval for DVSA MTS ...
6th September 2019
As it has been announced, going forward new MOT equipment will need to be able to connect to the MOT testing service (MTS).
Currently as of the 1st October 2019, anyone installing a new roller brake tester will need to make sure it's a model that can connect to the MTS. This includes purchasing one as a replacement for an existing brake tester.
The DVSA are doing this to modernise testing, save time as well as reducing the risk of error and fraud.
Tecalemit are happy to confirm that we are one of just six manufacturers that can currently offer an Approved Roller Brake Tester for Class III, IV, & VII testing.
Tecalemit’s Connected Brake Testers are suitable for ATL, OPTL and standard test lanes, with a range of options to suit all workshops and budgets.
To find out more about these new, connected brake testers call us on 01752 219111 or talk to your local Area Sales Manager.
