Brand new computerised test equipment is to be installed at VOSA goods vehicle testing stations throughout the UK.
VOSA has awarded the Test Lane Refresh programme - under which the test facilities will be refurbished and re-equipped - to BM Autotechnik A/S, which, in turn, has awarded the service and equipment contract to the Tecalemit Garage Equipment Co Ltd. Tecalemit is the UK's largest supplier of garage and MoT equipment, and has begun work on the contract, installing equipment which ranges from roller brake testers, load simulators and wheel play detectors, to pit jacks and emissions testing equipment.
The firm is also providing a maintenance contract with a nine hour response-and-fix time, which is described as "unique in the industry". A team of engineers will be dedicated to the VOSA work and Tecalemit has undertaken to have "high spare parts availability". The newly equipped centres will be able to meet all predicted changes to MoT regulations.
The firm is tasked to complete the first stage of installation at VOSA by September 30th.
Tecalemit Managing Director James Devonport said: "VOSA is obviously an important customer, and one that will be very visible to the rest of the industry, so we are delighted to be involved in the contract."
